E’ Arrivato Babbo Natale!
Qualche giorno fa ho ricevuto una chiavetta USB dalla mia insegnante di Pilates e una tazza con Biancaneve (lunga storia) e ho pensato che questi fossero i miei primi regali di Natale. Errore! Grave Errore! Un super pacco era arrivato qualche settimana fa, via renna dalla Scandinavia. Quando il corriere ha suonato il campanello, mi sono completamente dimenticata dei pittori che mi avevano occupato la casa. Ho saltato tutti gli ostacoli tra me e la porta e ho corso anche più velocemente quando ho riconosciuto il pacco. Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
A couple of days ago, I received a USB key from my Pilates teacher and a Snowhite mug (long story….). I thought these were my first Christmas gifts. I realized later that I was terribly wrong: a giant package had arrived earlier in December, via reindeer from Scandinavia. When the courier rang my bell, I rushed to the door forgetting about the painters who were taking care of my house. I jumped each obstacle between me and the door, and I ran even faster to the gate as soon as I recognized the package! E siamo arrivati a Natale!
Dogs & Country augura a tutti i suoi lettori Buon Natale e uno splendido 2017. Prima di scrivere questo paragrafo, io (Rossella) ho fatto una breve ricerca su perché Natale è Natale, e su perché viene celebrato proprio il 25 dicembre. Una festività simile al Natale esisteva molto prima che i cristiani trasformassero quella data nella loro giornata più importante. Quindi, nel pieno rispetto di ogni fede religiosa, sono arrivata a trarre alcune mie conclusioni. Penso che questa giornata speciale, fissata alla fine di dicembre, abbia molteplici significati e scopi. Before writing this paragraph, I (Rossella) did a short research on why Christmas is Christmas, and why it is celebrated on Dec 25th. “Something like Christmas” existed long before Christians transformed the day in their most important holiday. Ho una predilezione per il beccaccino, vai a capire il perché. Sì, certo preferisco le grouse ma il beccaccino non è male e mi aiuta a gestire l’assenza delle prime. Io e il beccaccino siamo vecchi amici, ci siamo incontrati nel 2004, l’hanno in cui ho preso la prima licenza di caccia. Per accorciare una lunga storia, ero venuta a sapere dei beccaccini attraverso i libri e i racconti dei cacciatori, ma non li avevo mai visti dal vivo fino a quando Spina, una setter inglese, ha fermato uno di loro. Every now and then I feel the need to try something new. The new thing has to be interesting, funny and totally different from what I am used to, so different that I never know what it shall be. There is only one thing I am always certain of: my experience must feature an idyllic quality/price ratio. When I found an incredible bargain, however, I ruminated on it for two days before going for it, last minute. Prova qualcosa di nuovo… anche se non è cinofilo
Ogni tanto sento la necessità di provare qualcosa di nuovo. La nuova cosa deve essere interessante, divertente e assolutamente diversa da ciò a cui sono abituata, talmente diversa che non so mai che cosa potrebbe essere. L’unica, costante, certezza è che debba possedere un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Nonostante ciò, dopo aver trovato un’offerta straordinaria ci ho ruminato sopra per due giorni salvo poi buttarmici all’ultimo minuto.
